Hi Ryan, thanks for this post. I was not familiar with OptimizePress prior to today. This will make a great addition to anyone's internet marketing success.

Wordpress is definately the way to go.

Sort of...

I use it for sales pages for Monthly Content, but I don't use it for the Monthly Content Member's Area. Monthly Content has actually been around since long before Optimize Press even existed so that member's area was built years ago using a premium theme from a company I no longer remember.

The member's area is protected by Wishlist Member (which works with Optimize Press by the way).

Although you can do member's areas with Optimize Press, they are better for Module type content or single products and not a site like Monthly Content which has thousands of products and is updated multiple times per week.

Thanks Ryan for this theme tip! I use on most of my sites Thesis - and I actually love it. But I'll look at the OptimizePress - it may be suitable for some other kind of blogs like membership websites. Do you use it for MonthlyContent?

Thanks,
Marian

Hi Gerry,

I will sometimes use the Optimize Press theme for a regular blog IF I also want to have squeeze pages, sales pages or a member's area on the domain. The theme used for an actual blog itself is pretty good (it allows for thumbnails on the main page and has several other options for customization), however, if it's just a standard blog that I won't be doing sales pages, squeeze pages, launch funnels and member's area with (for example this blog), I will typically NOT use Optimize Press as I prefer a theme with even more customization options than the Optimize Press "standard blog" theme.

I'm a big fan of Woo Themes for my non Optimize Press themes. Most of their themes are paid but I believe they do have a few free ones as well. The one I use on this blog is from Woo Themes and it's called "Headlines".

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the video walk through. I've been wanting to get Optimize Press but always end up buying the alternatives, but now I'm convinced this is what I need. I have some membership sites ready to launch, just needing a good frontend and backend user interface. If I do buy OP, i will buy it through your link.

Do you use it for regular blogs?

I can speak from experience that this does happen, and way more often than you would think. It is always wise to change both username and password to something that is unique. Also using a mixture of letters, Numbers, and capitals makes for stronger passwords.

I have Website Defender. It's an excellent free plug-in that lets me know if ANYTHING untoward is going on at my site, and e-mails me with an alert to let me know. It's great.

Never, ever use fantastico to install Wordpress - it leaves a whole bunch of vulnerabilities for hackers to exploit! The manual install is so simple, you can do it nearly as fast as fantastico. Also, don't use some of the (basically) useless plugins in the default set up. Just delete the plugin out..
