As you may know, I use Aweber as my autoresponder company. Although I love Aweber (after all… my lists are responsible for a good part of my income)…
I DON’T LOVE getting charged for people that have unsubscribed from my lists.
If I can’t send email to people than I don’t want to be charged for them!
It’s not a bad thing that Aweber (and other autoresponder companies) keep your unsubscribes in your account even though you can no longer send email to them (because you can still get valuable metrics from them)…
But if you are close to the next tier in your account where you’ll be charged more money, deleting your unsubscribes can keep you in the lower tier helping you to save money on your Aweber account!
I created a quick video for you showing you how to delete your unsubscribes (possibly saving you some cash), plus I’ll tell you about the short cut I normally use to delete all my unsubscribes from all my lists quickly:
If you don’t yet have an autoresponder account, you can check out Aweber here.

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea that awber charges for people that unsubscribe from my list.
Glad to help!
I paid more than I needed to for at least a few months before realizing I could delete my unsubscribes and save some dough.
It is already available in the knowledgebase at aweber.
I shall suggest 1 more way :- Just keep on checking the subscriber activity and better to delete from list those who have not interacted with you for months together.
I did the excersize and found out that almost 60 -65 % people hadn’t opened my messages after the 1 st one. I requested them to unsubscribe, then surprisingly 20-25 % became active & remaining I erased from the list.
This will surely save you a lot on aweber
It’s definitely not something that Aweber is trying to hide (like you said, it’s in the knowledgebase), however, if you don’t know you’re being charged for unsubscribes, you wouldn’t think to look there.
Thanks for the additional tip about deleting non-openers!
Here is the knowledgebase at Aweber that goes over deleting no-opens (which is the same technique as deleting unsubscribes):
